Why Did I Make This Blog?

My name is Chris Sinkinson, I'm the head developer for the SentryFile Document Management System. Over the past months I've been asking several times "what are you working on for the next release?"

Our development team is working on tons of cool little ideas. Answering all those requests is time consuming. So, finally, I've got a good excuse to set up a blog! :)

But "with great power comes great responsibility" (okay, a blog isn't really "great power", I know.... Just love that quote!) Couple "ground rules"...
  1. The stuff that I post may or may not happen. If you are a SentryFile Customer or Partner, please take this as "collegial banter". We are making no guarantees in this blog whatsoever.

That's pretty much it... Only 1 rule. heh! :)

I'll do my best to post something every couple days. As always, you can check out our website (http://www.sentryfile.com) or our support forum (http://www.sentryfile.com/forum/) for more information!

Thanks,

-Chris

Chris,
just wanted to let you know that I think this blog is a great idea. We showed autocapture to a few resellers on Thursday as you know and they were all blown away. Great job

Thanks Glenn, I'm very excited about this blog idea too. Should give us an opportunity to tell people about the cool new features we're working on! :)

Hey Chris,

First off, great software overall. We tested a total of 3 software options and chose SentryFile for ease of use.

We just purchased the corporate version 5.07. Just wondering when your going to add a scan button for appending to a current document? I understand version 4 had this. Its a bit inconvenient to have to scan in the document first then append to a current file.

What about the ability to easily move a document from one cabinet to another.

Deleting several documents at once. For example we have to keep certain documents for 37 months. I would be nice to query all documents in a cabinet over 37 months for deletion without going to each individual file.

Another software company had a box to check if you were scanning in OCR or barcode file. this avoided having to send to a folder or an email and then running a job to pull all the documents in. Basically you could do it on the spot.

One last bug that we have run across with the barcode(OCR does not have this problem) When I click on the test button I get the following error:

Server Error in '/SentryFile' Application.

Chris,

I work for a Savin (Ricoh) dealer in WI we are a partner with SF. I do know that it is all written in JAVA and others do have interfaces to document management. I have been trying to get a SDK from Savin and I can order one right now for around $1600, but I am still trying to get it for free just for testing. As far as I understand if you get the Java upgrade to your machine you can run java apps. I was even told if you want you could play solitaire on a MFP. Once I get the kit I will start to play with it and try some Java programming. I also know that you can order the SDK from a Savin dealer, not sure on cost and part number. Hope this helps and I do look forward to seeing a interface with Ricoh/Savin Machines.
